Safety and coexistence tips
Luggage
Do not let your luggage, packages or personal effects out of your sight, especially in places where people are walking by or waiting areas like lobbies in stations or hotels. It is recommendable to identify all the packages you are carrying.
Public transport
When you travel in public transport, keep your handbag closed and visible at stops and on platforms, as well as in buses or the underground. Avoid bumping into people, as this could be an opportunity for theft.
Personal effects
Keep personal effects such as documents, keys, money, credit cards and valuables (telephones, cameras, etc.) protected and do not lose sight of them, especially in crowded areas. It is best to carry money, credit cards and documents in front inner pockets or zipped pockets.
Open spaces, terraces and beaches
In open spaces, terraces and beaches, keep watch over your belongings and do not lose sight of them; if you have to go away briefly, ask someone you trust to keep an eye on them.
Private vehicle
When you travel in a private vehicle, avoid leaving packages and other items in view inside the vehicle, especially valuables (wallets, telephones, handbags or electronic devices). Even in monitored parking areas, lock your car, roll up the windows and take the car park ticket with you.
Vehicles
As you circulate, do not trust someone who warns you that something is wrong with your car (flat tire, burned-out lights, etc.). A petrol station is a good place to stop and check your vehicle.
