The investment in resurfacing in the city in the whole of 2024 is 16.7 million euros, as part of the rollout of the comprehensive maintenance plan under the Pla Endreça.

Resurfacing has been carried out using different construction solutions that help towards the decarbonisation of the city, lower energy costs, recycling and sustainability. Projects carried out include:

  • Permeable surface laid in the bike lane in C/ Jordi Girona, acting as a sustainable urban drainage system.
  • The surface laid in Via Júlia is made entirely from recycled material which have no other possible use, at a temperature 20 degrees lower than usual, generating less CO2 and saving energy.
  • In Passeig de Santa Coloma, the surface includes non-recyclable plastic waste, giving this material a final use.

Upcoming work

Two important projects are being carried out over the weekend of 26 and 27 October:

  • L’Eixample: surfacing work in Carrer del Comte d’Urgell, between Av. Roma and C/ València, and in Av. Roma, between C/ Casanova and C/ Comte d’Urgell.
  • Gràcia: surfacing work in Plaça de Lesseps, in the whole area between Av. República Argentina and C/ Mare de Déu del Coll.
