Sara Brighenti is a museum expert. She is the deputy commissioner of the National Plan for the Arts – promoter and co-author of the Porto Santo Charter.
In 2020-21 she co-designed the Plan for the Future of Museums, commissioned by the Portuguese Government. From 2011 to 2019, she led the Museum of Money (Bank of Portugal), and the concept installation of that museum. Previously she was head of the Education Department at the Paula Rego Museum, as well as an advisor for art museums, theatres, cultural centres, and Portugal’s culture and education ministries.
She holds a Master’s degree in visual arts, and has post-graduate qualifications in Museology, Visual Arts Didactics and Leadership. Her research studies are in the fields of museum education and mediation, audience participation and visitor experience.
Brighenti sees her mission as promoting cultural democracy and citizens’ cultural rights.
She is the author of books, opinion articles and essays, and participates regularly in seminars.
