Laurence Cuny is a human rights lawyer and researcher specialising in cultural rights and artistic freedom. She has collaborated with the UN Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights for the reports on artistic freedom, advertising and public spaces.
She is the author of recent studies on the international protection of artistic freedom (University of Hildesheim, 2019), relocation of artists at risk (Ifa, 2021) and status of the artist and working conditions (IFACCA, 2022).
As member of the UNESCO expert group on the 2005 Convention on the diversity of cultural expressions she authored the 2020 report Freedom & Creativity and provides training to different audiences (Artistic freedom in the digital sphere, UNESCO, May 2022).
She is a member of the UNESCO Chair on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions at Laval University Faculty of Law and an Associate Member of the Fribourg Observatory of Diversity and Cultural Rights.
