Laia Forné is a member of La Hidra Cooperativa. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and a Master's in Urban Management from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC).
In her professional career, she has mainly worked in the fields of local democracy, urban commons and right to the city.
She is involved in various urban movements in Barcelona, places that she regards as key for thinking about and intervening in the city. Besides that, she has worked as an expert and adviser for several public administrations and, from 2015 to 2019, she was head of staff at the Councillor's Office for Participation at Barcelona City Council..
Laia’s chief concern is researching and creating public-community institutions that enable a more democratic, transformative and redistributive way of managing resources.
