Fieke Jansen is a postdoctoral researcher at the Data Justice Lab. She holds a PhD from the School of Journalism, Media and Culture at Cardiff University and the Data Justice Lab.

Her research looks at how datafication is changing the power relationships in society, with a particular focus on the use of data systems by public institutions. Before beginning her PhD, she worked on the intersection of human rights, Internet and Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Hivos and Tactical Tech. Prior to that she was also an intern at Mozilla and the Green Web Foundation.

She has published extensively on the areas of data policy and is the author of an article on the use of the voice recognition system in law enforcement and the use of public AI register launched by the municipalities of Amsterdam and Helsinki.
