In A Different Disorder, the curator Marta Sesé questions the abstract and progressive conception of history, highlighting its fundamental role in matters such as colonial violence, exploitation, sexuality and aesthetic and cultural homogenisation. Sesé has assembled a series of works by ten international artists working in different disciplines but sharing the same agenda: to create new narratives that challenge the existing sets of norms.
The Espai Capella thus becomes a space for unlearning, surrounded by a structure designed to accommodate (or unsettle) the pieces in the exhibition: tapestries, photographic materials, maps, dance floors, audiovisuals, templates and reinterpreted furniture... a set of pieces that seek to stir, disrupt and destabilise, like an earthquake that causes a different disorder.

Renunciar a la linealitat de la història, retirar la mirada sobre un horitzó fix. Desorientar-se per qüestionar un paradigma estable que la modernitat, entesa com a projecte occidental de civilització, ha legitimat regularitzant els sentits de l’experiència i definint els conceptes de subjecte i objecte, de temps i espai. Un desordre distint busca construir un possible “a fora per rebel·lar-se contra l’Ordre”. El conjunt de peces de l’exposició ofereix resistència a diferents ordres, i proposa una sèrie d’estratègies —a través de la reivindicació del fracàs, de les temporalitats discas-queer o de revisions històriques no lineals— que permetin apuntar cap a una pluralitat d’experiències altres.
