A world of possibilities between opera and circus

Stage director Lluís Danés offers a new perspective on Puccini's music at the Liceu.

The month of June arrives with an ideal show for the whole family: La torre dels somnis. This is a new production by the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Ajuntament de Barcelona, which presented La torre de Nadal in Plaça de Catalunya in December. Take this unique opportunity to take a musical journey full of emotion, sensitivity and magic under the guidance of Giacomo Puccini. You can see it on the 1st, 22nd, 23rd and 29th of June.

La torre dels somnis is a large-scale stage production with texts by Alguer Miquel that combines opera, circus and poetry. This show revisits and vindicates Puccini's arias and infinite melodies. The musical direction is by Sergi Cuenca, who has also written the musical arrangements based on the Italian composer's work. The live music will be performed by eight musicians and five singers with pieces such as Nessun dorma, Turandot; O mio babbino caro, Gianni Schicchi; and Vissi d'arte, Tosca, among others.

As for the circus part, you will be left speechless thanks to the traditional numbers that six performers of this scenic art will show through balancing, rope, suspensions, trapeze and dance. Circus direction is by Ingrid Esperanza and choreographic direction by Ariadna Peya

In the show you will discover how the inhabitants of the tower have to defend and protect their dreams and utopias in order to save the status quo. In a world compromised by the most obscure interests, the impossible are the inhabitants of the tower who are ready to defy their own destiny. La torre dels somnis  is a place where everything is possible, a corner of the world where you can dream without the need to sleep.

Let your imagination take you to La torre dels somnis  with the compositions of Giacomo Puccini. A show for all audiences, recommended for ages 10 and up, with performances scheduled for 1, 22, 23 and 29 June, at 11 am. Tickets range in price from €10 to €30 and can be purchased from the Gran Teatre del Liceu website.
