Space exploration and mathematical music

The CosmoCaixa Science Museum presents the CosmoNits cycle of activities and the Matemifasol exhibition for the whole family to enjoy.

Would you like to go on a stellar adventure and take a historical journey through music and mathematics? The centre located in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district offers the CosmoNits cycle, which will be held on 11 and 25 July, and on 1 and 8 August with a varied programme of activities. In addition, from 10 July to 12 January, you can visit the Matemifasol exhibition where you can discover the connections between the two disciplines. These enlightening proposals allow you to live an enriching experience with your family.

At CosmoNits you can explore the world of astronomy and take an immersive journey into space. For the little ones, an interactive tour has been organised that simulates the different phases of a space voyage. From astronaut training to the observation of samples, children will be able to feel like real space explorers. In addition, the evening includes a variety of activities such as a lunar disco, astronomical shows, stories about the universe and projections at the Planetarium.

There will also be open-air cinema sessions for adults with films such as WALL-E, Dune, Apollo 13 and Contact; Galactic monologues with Big Van Ciencia and live music with artists such as Ángel Molina, Menhir, Cora Novoa and Maria Coma, at the Planetarium.

On the other hand, Matemifasol is an exhibition that explores the connection between music and mathematics. Through seven different areas, visitors can discover how these two apparently distant worlds are related.

From Pythagoras' theories to Kepler's research, the exhibition offers a historical journey that shows how mathematics is present in music. The exhibition will take you from absolute silence to the sound of nature, illustrating how the music of matter and mathematical patterns are manifested in the music you listen to. In addition, Matemifasol shows the power of music, an area investigated by neuroscientists.

If you want to stimulate the mind and imagination, don't hesitate to take part in the family activities of CosmoNits, which will take place on 11 and 25 July, and on 1 and 8 August, from 18:00 to 21:00 (family audiences) and from 20:30 to 23:30 (general public), while Matemifasol will be from 10 July to 12 January 2025, from Monday to Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00 The ticket price is 12 € and 6 €, respectively. If you want to buy it, you can do it from the website of the CosmoCaixa Science Museum.
