Raval(s) Festival is here!
From 7 to 10 November, the Ciutat Vella neighbourhood will offer free activities with musical performances, workshops, artistic interventions and plays, among others.
Raval(s) Festival presents its 22nd edition with a varied programme that includes more than fifty free activities throughout the Raval neighbourhood. Promoted by the Fundació Tot Raval and backed by more than a hundred organisations, associations, cultural and educational centres, among others, this festival is a space for celebration and reflection on the cultural diversity that characterises the area.
With more than twenty years of experience, Raval(s) Festival aims to promote networking and the active participation of the neighbourhood, addressing collectively, through art and culture, the challenges facing the territory. The activities will be divided into twelve thematic areas, ranging from popular culture and music to urban horticulture and the inclusion of women.
As a novelty this year, two new projects will be presented: Artifici(s) and Punta Raval. Artifici(s) is a space for reflection and co-creation where local artists and cultural agents work together to build alliances and share knowledge. Cordova with Cácerin Houc; L'Occulta with Vhandha; and Revive Social Art Producer with Sagrada y Migratoria will be present. On Thursday 7 November, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Plaça de la Gardunya will present an exhibition of the works resulting from this process, a painting workshop on recycled clothes, a dance performance and a DJ set to close the day.
On the other hand, the Punta Raval is an initiative in collaboration with the Escola de Puntaires de Barcelona, which has involved neighbours and workers in the creation of a pillow fringe, the symbol of the neighbourhood. This piece will be presented on 10 November on the Rambla del Raval, as part of the Popular Culture(s) day, which will include exhibitions, workshops, concerts and a popular dinner with traditional dishes from Catalan, Bangladeshi and Moroccan cuisine.
In addition, among the main activities, there is the X Festa de les Sopes d'aquí i d'Allà, which will be held on Saturday 9 November in Plaça dels Àngels, where you can taste soups from all over the world. There will also be the Espai Done(s), focusing on feminism, at the Sant Pau-Santa Creu Library and the Rubió i Lluch gardens, and the Espai de Músique(s) emergent(s), which will feature performances by young talents from the four main music schools in the Raval, in Plaça dels Àngels.
Take the opportunity to take part in the Raval(s) Festival and celebrate the diversity, life and culture of the neighbourhood. The times of the activities vary depending on the day. If you want more information, you can consult the programme, as well as the website of Fundació Tot Raval.
