A fragment of this year's poster showing the face of a superheroine

Ink & paper heroes take over La Fira

Comic Barcelona celebrates its forty-third edition with many proposals for the younger public and an immersion in the Marvel and DC universe.

The poster for this year's festival (here we can only show you a but of it, but take the time to admire it in full, because it's a marvel) makes it clear what's going on: it's signed by Pepe Larraz, a comic star who has triumphed in the USA. Superheroes from American publishers such as Marvel and DC are coming to Fira Montjuïc as part of the Comic Barcelona 2025 programme, which includes many other proposals, on 3, 4 and 5 April.

The fair aims to be an event open to audiences of all ages and with proposals from different disciplines related to comics, but also extending to the worlds of theatre and music, among others. As the director Meritxell Puig points out, the fair offers ‘a creative, vibrant, inspiring, familiar and didactic universe, full of fascinating stories and new perspectives to discover’.

Among the spaces, Cosmic Kids, dedicated to children, takes centre stage. Here there is an extensive programme that includes artistic and theatrical works such as Los Viajes de la Pequeña Genia, but also musical experiences with rock as the protagonist by the group Educapop and immersive experiences such as the one proposed by the Laberint del Cucut. Do you want Geronimo Stilton’s autograph?

But this edition of Comic Barcelona is marked by the figures of superheroes. You will find them in exhibitions such as the ones dedicated to DC (Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman...) and Marvel (Spiderman, Captain America, Iron Man...). In these exhibitions you will be left with your mouth wide open, even if you are not a big fan.

You will also see exhibitions such as ‘Perfect Shot: the beauty and the epic’, in which you will get to know in depth the author of this year's poster, Pepe Larraz, who has made a name for himself in the North American comic industry and who is an example like other local artists who have triumphed in the American market, such as Belén Ortega, David López or Javier Rodríguez.

You will discover new spaces such as Comic Univers, which will host musical performances, lectures and screenings. Comic Forum, where authors show their most personal side, will also be back this year. Are you addicted to unique items? Come to the Original Comic Art Zone, dedicated to the original works and the artists who create them and who will sign illustrations.

Role-playing games, activities and a special area dedicated to the many cosplay lovers who come to the Fira complete the Comic Barcelona programme, which has a long list of guests ranging from Chris Warre and John Howe to Marika Vila, Sally Rippin and Kate Beaton, among many other authors.

If you don't want to miss out on any of the activities, check out the full Comic Barcelona programme on the website and plan your visit.
