All genres at the Harlem Jazz Club

The Barcelona Jazz Festival and the 35th anniversary of the venue are filling the stage with blues, swing, soul, funk, rock, country, folk, rocksteady, flamenco, klezmer and gospel.

This November, the Harlem Jazz Club is offering a packed programme of concerts as part of the venue's 35th-anniversary celebrations and as part of the Barcelona Jazz Festival's Veus de Barcelona cycle.

The Nits al Harlem will feature the handmade instruments of Dusk Whistler & Self Made Blues (3rd and 4th at 10:30 p.m.), Detroit cellist BJ Griffin & The Galaxy Groove Band (11th and 12th at 11 p.m. and 13th at 10:30 p.m.), the catalytic debauchery of Off Beat Xperiment (16th at 10:30 p.m.), and UK trio Normanton Street formed by Phoebe LanniNed Archibong and Nichol Davids (25th and 26th at 11 p.m.).

There will also be double sessions at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. On 5 November, Dabumbus — the duo formed by Marta Roma and Antony da Cruz — and the African Gospel Choir of Joe PsalmistAbby BiebedaKeyz Daniel IheDora OkerekaJoy Simon and Rim Amador will perform. This same arrangement will be reproduced on 12 November with Adriana Ospina & Bartolomeo Barenghi and the already mentioned BJ Griffin, on 18 November with La Voodoo — the tandem of Ugne Reikalaité and Naná Rovira — and Chino & The Sharps Swing Band, and on 26 November with Marïe Pratt and the previously mentioned Normanton Street.

In addition, the venue will host performances by Guateque Town (6th at 8:30 p.m.), Gemma Abrié and Josep Traver (19th at 8 p.m.) and the Calabrian singer Maria Teresa Lonetti (23th at 10:30 p.m.), and three concerts celebrating the 35th anniversary: the vibrationist Erich Fisher & Bassic Vives accompanied by Yuvisney Aguilar and Katya Che (9th at 10:30 p.m.), the ethno jazz of World's Music Ensemble (27th at 10 p.m.) and the flamenco jazz of Javier González and Horacio Fumero (30th at 10:30 p.m.)

The venue will combine this special programme with the usual early jazz jam sessions with Chino Swingdle (8th, 15th, 22th and 29th at 10:30 p.m.) and rhythm and blues with Mr Shingles (10th, 17th and 24th at 10:30 p.m.), as well as swing sessions with Chino & The Sharps (18th at 11 p.m.) and soul, funk and blues with Virginia & The Woolfs (19th at 11 p.m.).
