The Gramophone Allstars Big Band celebrate 10 years at the Sala Apolo
The musicians responsible for Jazzmaica also surprise us with a compilation album and a commemorative documentary.
A fusion of Jamaican music from the sixties, ska, rocksteady, reggae, soul and jazz. All this and much more is The Gramophone Allstars Big Band, a band made up of 16 musicians that has already established itself as one of the most consolidated musical projects on the current black music scene.
On 23 December they are coming to Sala Apolo to commemorate their career, which began in Barcelona in 2014 and culminated with the release of their album Jazzmaica. A stop that forms part of the 150 concerts programmed for the band, where they will also play tracks from Maraca Soul and Call Your Friends, LPs that they will combine with classics of soul and Jamaican music.
But the band founded by Catalan saxophonist Genís Bou has more surprises in store. In addition to this anniversary tour, The Gramophone Allstars Big Band has completed a compilation album accompanied by a documentary that records such acclaimed events as the premiere of their first album in Japan.
Although the group was born in the spring of 2008, it was not until 2014 that The Gramophone Allstars became a Big Band, a fact which, together with the excellent fusion of rhythms and musical influences, ensured their international success. Their discography also includes short-lived albums such as The Reel Influence and Love Letter, with covers of songs by Marvin Gaye and other soul artists.
An experience full of rhythm and fusion! You will find more information and tickets on the Sala Apolo website.
