Fito Conesa returns to infancy at the Museu Tàpies
Rotations, voices and repetitions in the proposal that opens the second edition of the cycle Les cadires de Tàpies.
A childhood practice by the artist Fito Conesa inspires the first of the proposals of the new edition of the cycle of artistic experimentation Les cadires de Tàpies, this year subtitled Memòries tatuades (Tattooed Memories). The cycle opens its second edition with Un gir horitzontal, a creation that uses voice, repetition and rotation as central elements. Come and see it (and feel it) at Museu Tàpies on Thursday, 27 March.
Les cadires de Tàpies is a cycle of multidisciplinary actions that takes as a reference one of the everyday objects that Antoni Tàpies used in his works. The work in this edition is by an artist from Barcelona who holds a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona and whose work is in collections such as MACBA and the Banc Sabadell Collection and the University of Granada. His work has been seen in museums, art centres and festivals, such as La Casa Encendida in Madrid, Matadero Madrid, CaixaForum and MACBA, among others.
The proposed action involves the work of Claudia Scheider, Erika Michie and Enrikson, and revives the childhood practice of spinning a chair at constant speed. The aim is to make the loop or repetition visible and to make its role in the structure of any melody palpable.
Lasting approximately half an hour, this is a celebration, from concrete music or sonic performativity, of the architectures that host the proposal and the sonorities they offer.
Judith Barnés, head of public programmes at Museu Tàpies, is in charge of curating the cycle which, in forthcoming events, will include the artist Laia Estruch (24 April); the dancer Ada Saliou (29 May); the performance artist Esther Ferrer (26 June); the Guatemalan artist Benvenuto Chavajay (17 July); the Mallorcan Joan Morey (25 September); the artist Leonor Castro (30 October); the writer Mireia Calafell (27 November) and the choreographer Mónica Valenciano.
