One of the works from the exhibition

'Tot Cor', Pepa Reverter's collaborative and solidary project

Artists from different disciplines contribute their creations to an exhibition that will use the profits to improve the quality of life of people affected by ALS.

In the collection of the  Museu del Disseny de Barcelona, there is a heart-shaped vase created by the artist Pepa Reverter. It is a piece that appeals to generosity and good feelings. Based on this work, other artists have designed their own hearts, which will be put together in an exhibition that will open its doors on 4 August at the Disseny Hub Barcelona. It is entitled Tot Cor. Art, disseny i artesania parlen d'amor, and the works on display will be on sale, with part of the profits donated to the Miquel Valls Foundation, which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).

Among the participants are artists and designers such as Juli Capella, Lolita Cortés, Rosa Cortiella, Meritxell Duran and Javirroyo, photographers including Eugeni Aguiló, Sara Cuadrado, Marcela Grassi, Carlos Iglesias and Matías Pérez Llera as well as floral stylists of the likes of Flowers by Bornay, Madrid Flowers School and Itzi Guridi. Reverter, the curator of this collaborative and supportive exhibition, says: "The silhouette of the heart is a universal symbol, present in many cultures, and we turn to it when we want to share and externalise feelings. We have materialised the heart as an iconic object, which apparently has the simple function of a vase, in order to turn it into the basis of an artistic project. This is the wonderful thing about art it can turn something that is abstract, like a feeling, into a formal thing to give it visibility and charge it with meaning". Reverter came to know ALS first-hand through her mother, Paquita Sancho. The Miquel Valls Foundation is a private, non-profit pioneer organisation in Spain working with people affected by ALS and other motor neuron diseases.

Reverter's aim is to grow the project and that, in the future, it acquires other dimensions and formats in which love and good feelings can continue to be talked about creatively and through design. The exhibition at Disseny Hub Barcelona will be open until 18 September.
