La Cubana is going to a funeral
The latest craze of the company, Adeu Arturo, is coming to the Coliseum under the direction of Jordi Milán.
After the long tour around Spain, which was interrupted due to the pandemic, La Cubana is bringing to Barcelona, starting on 2 February 2022, Adeu Arturo, their latest show. If 10 years ago the experienced company led by Jordi Milán was talking about the social theatre surrounding marriage ceremonies with Campanades de boda, now they're going to talk about funerals. The performance will have the typical house ingredients: lots of humour and fun, a fast pace, colourful costumes, wigs and glasses galore, surprises, some music and the essential interactions with the audience.
Adeu Arturo shows the paraphernalia created after the death of a multifaceted artist, Arturo Cirera Mompou, who died at the age of 101. While he was alive, he was a man who never liked the phrases commonly used at funerals or mourning, so, he had already arranged his farewell years before – no sorrow or sadness, but a big party with the participation of his friends, to celebrate a life lived intensely. The company defines the show as a "hymn to life, a carpe diem to reflect on how to live making the most of every minute and every instant". Some of the company's artists taking the stage are: Xavi Tena, Filomena Martorell, David Ramírez, Annabel Totusaus, Nuria Benet, Àlex Gonzàlez, Montse Amat, Toni Sans, Virginia Melgar, Miguel Arnau and Víctor G. Casademunt. Unless extensions are agreed and announced further on, the show will run until 22 May.
