The Caseta del Migdia, outdoor evenings with ambience music

Montjuïc's lookout point is offering rumba, DJ and flamenco from Wednesdays to Sundays.

People say that the Caseta del Migdia is one of the most well-kept secrets in Barcelona. Have you ever heard of it?

We are talking about a charming restaurant with a natural open-air terrace under the shade of pine trees. The building is located in Montjuïc, close to a lookout it shares its name with, and has a fantastic view of the sea and the port of Barcelona. It's an ideal place to watch the sunset and grab a drink or a bite with a touch of sea breeze.

Besides these attractive features, during August, they are offering a program of weekly live performances, at 9 pm, to accompany the evenings.

On Wednesdays, the smell of grilled sardines will mix with the rhythm of Catalan rumba. Arrels de Gràcia, a lively gipsy band that recreates the atmosphere of the festa major, will play. The occasion is worth it and, for this reason, it is strictly necessary to book tickets in advance.

Master César de Melero will be DJing on Thursdays. The father of the Balearic beat and pioneer of acid-house in the Barcelona music scene will revive the dance music that has been all the rage in most dance venues and clubs of Ibiza and Barcelona since 1982.

On Fridays and Saturdays, it will be the turn for the warmer rhythms. Brothers Diego de Lippo and Profesor Angel Dust are both producers, musicians and remixers. The band, also known as Dope Brothers, was among the leaders of the Barcelona nightclub scene and the true kings of La Paloma for six years with their Bongo Lounge residency.

Finally, on Sundays, singer and dancer Esperanza Cortés, from Cádiz, will delight the audience with her Ratitos de flamenco

Most nights, the Caseta del Migdia will extend the evenings until midnight, while on Sundays, they will be open until 11 pm. It is essential to book a table if you want like to attend Wednesdays’ sessions; the rest of the days, it is advisable to do so also because of the pandemic. You can book the tables by calling 617 95 65 72 and 693 99 27 60 or by e-mailing marc@desconnecta.com.
