Art and Matter at the Joan Miró Foundation

The centre's Espai 13 is hosting the exhibition ‘Veure en natural’, by the artist Paula García-Masedo.

She was born in Madrid in 1984, but all major creative centres in the Catalan capital know her. She has done or is doing residencies at l'Hangar or La Escocesa and her creations, which, according to the sensitive nature of the material, can be seen at Fabra i Coats or La Capella. Now, at Espai 13 of the Fundació Joan Miró, she presents the exhibition ‘Veure en natural’ (image, courtesy of the artist), until 29 June.

The exhibition is the second in the series com des d'aquí, curated by Carolina Jiménez, which aims to address the ways of relating to space. The exhibition proposals are based on gestures, protocols, methodologies and links, sometimes poetic and sometimes political, that favour ways of doing and living together and escape from violence.

In ‘Veure en natural’, the artist, with an installation approach to sculpture, is interested in the sensitive nature of the material based on the chains or successions of which it forms part, be they affective, genealogical, technological or political. And, through sculpture, she investigates the relationship between matter and external forces, which have to do with the collective sphere.

Paula García-Masedo's creations that you can see in this exhibition take the form of serial operations that give rise to specific situations of order and presence and contribute to the perception of genealogical relationships.

A visual artist and also an author, García-Masedo has exhibited in prestigious centres such as the CA2M in Madrid, the Patio Herreriano in Valladolid, La Capella in Barcelona, the TEA in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Madrid, La Casa Encendida in Madrid and the Fabra i Coats in Barcelona, among others. She has also curated exhibitions in Madrid, Mexico and Buenos Aires.

If you want to come to ‘Veure en natural’, you can go to Fundació Joan Miró, but first check the website for information about the exhibition.
