24/01/2024 - 14:47 h
A festival with all kinds of activities to enjoy scientific research and reinforce it as a basic pillar of culture.
For a whole week, from 12 to 17 February, the Guinardó Civic Centre will be holding Science Week (7), a festival that seeks to integrate science as an essential aspect of culture. This event offers a wide range of activities including exhibitions, talks, workshops and scientific projects in Barcelona.
The Guinardó Civic Centre, which already has a line dedicated to science, now expands its fields with the recent incorporation of the Municipal Planetarium of Barcelona. In the different exhibition rooms, unique proposals will be presented that offer an enriching perspective on transcendence, the gaze and desire associated with art and science. Through this project, the centre seeks to promote scientific knowledge through professionals in the sector. Thus, the festival becomes a unique opportunity to explore the intersections between art and science.
The festival activities
There will be a wide range of activities on offer during the days of the festival. From educational projects such as 3r ESO Let’s Do Science, where the students of the Joan Brossa high school will highlight the globalised work of some scientific knowledge, offering an inspiring vision of their research.
On the other hand, there will also be exhibitions such as The Sky The Stars, curated by Belén Soto, Elena Lasala and Eli Lloveras, which will explore perceptions of transcendence and the desire for discovery through visual and acoustic works. This exhibition, part of the Temporals cycle, will provide the opportunity to enjoy two complementary activities that will enrich the experience of the visit.
As for the programmed activities, there will be talks such as The meteorology of km 0 by Alfons Puertas, meteorologist at the Fabra Observatory in Barcelona, and The DESI project: Eyes for the Dark Universe by Laura Cabayol, researcher at the Institute of High Energy Physics. There will also be projections in the planetarium, workshops such as Exploring smells from memory, art and ICT by Science for Change, and family science sessions such as New way of prescribing antibiotics in respiratory infections with the participation of Pablo Alonso Coello and Gemma Mas Dalmau.
The initiative will culminate with the Family Science Fair on Saturday 17 February, with games and activities for children, highlighting Astronomy for all ages, Let’s discover dinosaurs!, and Journey through the oceans. With this event, the Guinardó Civic Centre reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of science as an integral part of culture, consolidating its position as a benchmark in the popularisation of science in the city of Barcelona.
