Some fifteen professional artists and creators, both from our own country and from other countries, and seventeen university degree schools will be the protagonists of a new edition, the fourteenth, of the Llum BCN festival, an appointment with art and technology that turns streets, squares and parks into true works of art. Save the dates in your diary, because from 7 to 9 February, from Joan Fontcuberta to Isaki Lacuesta are waiting for you.

Once again, the streets of the Poblenou neighbourhood, where the festival has been concentrated in recent years, will host a festive and artistic event that is a benchmark for the luminous arts and an event that is particularly well received by the public. Here you will see professionals from all kinds of visual arts working together: from contemporary art to design and architecture and from technology to lighting design.

The artists, collectives and schools taking part in the festival will demonstrate the many creative possibilities of light. Don’t miss out on proposals by great creators from the audiovisual world, as Llum BCN 2025 includes, among others, the photographer and visual artist Joan Fontcuberta (with a peace from the fair sponsor ISE), the filmmaker Isaki Lacuesta and a woman who, even if you don’t go to the theatre, you’re sure to know. She is Laura Clos (also known as ‘Closca’) and is one of the most popular stage illuminators among today’s theatre directors.

The proposals that you can see in the streets, squares and open spaces of Poblenou have been selected by Maria Güell, stage designer, lighting specialist and artistic director of Llum BCN, that has Yamaha as the main sponsor. She is assisted by Martin Pošta, in charge of international curatorship. Pay attention to Pošta’s proposals, because he co-founded the Signal Festival, one of the most outstanding cultural events in the Czech Republic. 

Come and stroll around the triangle formed by Meridiana Avenue (Marina), Plaça de les Glòries and the Poblenou Centre park, an area with an epicentre at the DHub where the proposals are concentrated, all open to the public and in open spaces. 

The image of this year’s edition is a creation of the Vasava studio, which suggests the fusion between matter and light, using movement as a narrative thread. Watch the clip announcing the festival and see how the physical structure of the city and the changing nature of light establish a dialogue. The spiral forms will offer, as you can see, an hypnotic visual experience in which light and citizenship merge.
