Món Llibre invites you to travel through literature

05/06/2024 - 11:00 h

Ajuntament de Barcelona

The festival, aimed at children and young audiences, will be held at CCCB and other venues around the city on the weekend of 15 and 16 June.

The Món Llibre festival has new dates in this year’s edition of 2024. Whereas until now it has arrived a few days before Sant Jordi, this year it moves to when it will be just a few days before children and young people start their holidays. And this edition wants children and not-so-children to embark on a journey through the pages of the books, a magical journey through the imagination, which can take them to different countries of the world, but also through time and emotions.

The festival has a new curator, Cristina Garcia, co-director of the theatre company for all audiences Cia Campi Qui Pugui, creator, actress and manager of artistic and cultural projects. And Jordi Magdaleno, co-director of the theatre company for all audiences La Tal, is the assistant director.

A programme distributed throughout stations and terminals

Món Llibre 2024 will take place on the weekend of 15 and 16 June, with a programme organised into stations and terminals: Plaça dels Àngels – Travelling reception; Plaça Joan Coromines – Coromines Terminal; the CCCB building – CCCB Terminal, and the MACBA convent – the convent’s small terminal. In each place, a lot of proposals for all tastes! Always, of course, related in one way or another to literature and the world of books. Many of the activities are proposed by publishers and are related to their latest publications.

The Creation Station, in Pati de les Dones at CCCB, will reserve a slot (from 5.45 to 8.30 p.m.) for audiences aged 12 to 16. For the first time in the history of the festival, there will be a programme of activities specially designed to respond to the concerns of young people in the field of literature.

Also in libraries

Saturday 15 Món Llibre will be presented at the Jaume Fuster Library, with puppets, storytellers, animated projections and other activities from 11.00 to 19.30 h. On Sunday 16th the festival will be at Trinitat Vella – José Barbero Library, with music, games and stories from 11.00 to 14.30h.

The festival poster is the work of Xavier Mula. His work focuses on visual communication, advertising and publishing. His versatile style is dominated by illustrations full of energy and dynamism, vibrant colours and a direct, identifiable and playful language.
