Barcelona Antiracist
Barcelona is an open, inclusive, and diverse city, home to a kaleidoscope of residents. Racism, however, exists in our community, though it is often dismissed and therefore goes unnoticed. Justice calls on us to fight it so that we can ensure human rights under conditions of equality and non-discrimination and uphold the democratic quality of our city. Barcelona City Council is committed to promoting anti-racism within public institutions and society. Therefore, it advocates for an inclusive model of coexistence that rejects false racial supremacies, both in daily interactions and in social and institutional structures.
The City Council has created a programme of over 60 anti-racist activities with the theme “Veus contra el racisme” (Voices against racism) to raise awareness among city residents, alongside the “Uneix la teva veu contra el racisme” (Let’s speak out together against racism) campaign which encourages residents to commit to anti-racism.
This programme of events comes ahead of the fourth UNESCO Forum against Racism and Discrimination, which will take place in Barcelona on 9, 10, and 11 December with the goal of establishing the fight against structural racism as a priority both locally and globally.
